Why is the TeX Button grayed? / How can I compile TeX files? |
WinTeX is just a shell with built in editor. In order to compile and view/print TeX files you need a full TeX installation. I can recommend mikTeX (32 bit, easy to install). back to top

If I try to imort a BiBTeX file I get errors or only part of the file is imported, why? |
It depends on how the BiBTeX information is organized in the file. Some formats my cause problems although they are valid BiBTeX files and work fine with BiBTeX. This example file contains a format which will definately work. back to top

How can I use @STRING abbreviations in my BiBTeX file? |
You need to tell BiBTeX, that the name of the string is an abbreviation and not normal text. You do this by closing the current entry, then appending the name of the string and then append the rest of the entry. For example you type in WinTeX: some title } # my_string # { some title continued This will result in: title = {some title } # my_string # { some title continued} Which will work fine with BiBTeX. If you want to use a string alone you type for example: } # IEEE_PROC # { Which will result in: booktitle = {} # IEEE_PROC # {} back to top
